One of our favorite Shelbys!  This is an original Wimbledon White 1968 Shelby GT350 Fastback.  This car has been one of our favorites for a long time because it is largely unrestored and has a "rock solid" original Oklahoma body!  Well documented with the SAAC, Elite Framed Marti Report, and tons of receipts showing all mechanical work, this car runs and drives like a classic Shelby should.  We regularly put 500 miles a season on this car and it turns heads every time it is driven!

1968 Shelby GT350 Fastback

History

I purchased this 1968 Shelby GT350 Fastback from a good friend of mine because of how solid the body and floors were.  The underneath is extra clean and has zero corrosion!  The car appears to have all of its original metal and the original rear frame rail ties where the car was shipped back in 1967 via rail are still there (the dealer never removed them)!  The car is an original "M" code Wimbledon White car with black deluxe interior.  This is a factory automatic car with factory air conditioning!  The interior is all original and is very functional as well as presenting nicely.  This is one of our favorite cars to drive as it is a pleasure out on the open road with all of its mechanicals fully sorted and attended to.  Well documented with the SAAC and comes with an Elite Framed Marti Report.

Paint

We believe the car was painted in the early 1980's and still presents well as driver quality/local cruise night paint.  When repainted the car was treated to the ever popular addition of guardsman blue Shelby Lemans Stripes which really give the car that "classic Shelby" look.  We regularly wax and polish our cars year round, and this car must have 20 coats of wax on it in the last two years.  It shines nicely in the sun and always gets a ton of attention, but best of all, you can enjoy the car without fear of destroying a fresh $15,000.00 paint job with a chip!

Body

The best part of this car is the rock solid Oklahoma body.  The floors were merely sanded by hand and then they were painted for a nice finish.  There is absolutely zero rust or corrosion on the floors, frame rails, or body.  The car is one of the most honest, solid, no story type of cars I have ever seen.

Driveline

The date code, casting numbers correct "J" code 302 runs fabulously well!  The car has a fresh full tune up and service done every year and we have extensive maintenance records and receipts that go with the car showing every facet of its mechanical driveline being attended to as needed.  The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and has been serviced regularly.  The shifts are crisp and with all new U joints and complete power steering rebuild, the car is just a blast to drive down the road!  Riding on reproduction bias ply E70-15 Goodyear Polyglass Speedway Outline White Letter tires, the car handles and looks like it's straight out of '68!  We chose to install a very nice, completely welded, Flowmaster American Thunder anodized exhaust system.  It really sounds great and gives the car that '60s muscle car sound!  The original "dual pipe" exhaust tips are included.  Other than this addition, the car remains in stock configuration and presentation.  We cannot begin to say how much we love driving this American Classic!

Interior

The interior is original black deluxe and is all original!  The seat covers, carpets, headliner, dash, wood paneling, door panels, etc are very nice showing just minor patina indicative of their age.  The original, date coded, seat belts are all there as well as the factory roll bar and shoulder harness reels.  The horn, radio, tilt, window cranks, wipers, door locks, Stewart Warner Gauges, etc. all are there and function properly.  The Sequential tail lights and brake lights were recently professionally restored and work flawlessly which is rare as most Shelby Sequential systems do not operate.  While not ice cold, the factory A/C was recently serviced and does work!  We had a new heater core installed as well as numerous other mechanical components to keep this '68 running and presenting well!

Summary

The unrestored nature of this car, and its iconic Shelby color combination make it a great investment that you can actually enjoy!  Seldom do cars this honest and original come around, and we have all of the maintenance history and documentation attesting to the solid mechanical condition of the car.  When repainted, care was taken to even mask off the original factory "Paint OK PAVNT" stamps under the hood on the inner aprons to preserve this car's originality (super rare and seldom seen)!  The car has its original buck tag and Shelby tag under the hood as well as excellent SAAC registry history, an Elite Framed Marti Report, and a myriad of documentation and receipts.  An excellent 1968 Shelby that is really fun to drive!
