1968 Shelby GT350 Convertible
This is an original 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 Convertible that is an original documented three owner car! The last owner had owned the car since the late eighties and had the car treated to a complete concourse MCA show class restoration in the 90's. We have three binders full of original documentation, pictures, receipts, ownership history, original owner's manual vin stamped from Shelby (rare), build sheets found under the carpets, MCA judging sheets, maintenance logs, etc. We also have an extensive list of maintenance items and services performed by GTS Classic Motors to ensure this Shelby runs great! Under the hood the original buck tag is still located on the passenger's inner fender apron! The car comes with a Marti Report and is well documented with the SAAC.
The car presents well in its "T" Code Candy Apple Red Paint. We had the paint wet sanded and buffed and since then have probably added three more coats of wax for a nice shine. There are a few small nicks and chips that have been touched up. The third owner decided to change the original color from Highland Green to the more desirable Candy Apple Red when he restored it and we think it looks great! This Candy Apple Red finish is absolutely stunning in the sun!
The body of the car is very nice. The panels appear to be all original to the car and the fit and finish is great. The floors and frame rails are very solid and are painted the correct red oxide. All of the chrome and brightwork is very nice as well. The power convertible top functions perfectly and looks brand new in its factory original black vinyl. The top also has the correct "two piece" glass rear window which is rare!
The J code 302 was completely rebuilt in the mid 90's and we have all of the receipts that go with the car. The car starts right up and settles into a nice idle. With an all new ignition system and complete tune up, this Shelby really performs well. The original Holley 600 carb(super rare) was professionally restored by a Holley expert and it functions beautifully. We have the receipts for all of this work. The clutch is brand new and the transmission shifts great with a nice and positive shifting action. The exhaust has a nice rumble, however, is not obnoxious and exits through correct stock '68 dual exhaust tips. This car runs and drives down the road great and can be enjoyed!
The interior of this car was completely restored in the 90's and still looks absolutely stunning in its original black deluxe configuration. The seat upholstery, foam, carpets, dash, seat belts, etc. are really nice with no blemishes or rips. The original Stewart Warner Gauges are still present and function well, as do all of the other interior gauges, lights, horn, etc. The steering wheel was excellently preserved and is just beautiful. The wood trimmed dash also is very nice.
We have an extensive list of services we have performed in our shop on the car to bring it to top operating condition including ignition system service, full tune up, fluid services, bulbs, detail work, tires, clutch, brakes, etc. Everything works on this car including the sequential tail/brake lights! The only thing currently not working is the "pop" action of the tilt/pop wheel (common), however, the tilt function works perfectly. With only 404 1968 Shelby GT350 convertibles ever made, this car is more rare than most. This car is one of 34 in this combination per the Marti Report! If you want an investment grade Shelby Convertible that drives as good as it looks, call now!
This is a gorgeous 1968 Shelby GT350 Convertible with 73,000 documented original miles! This car is a true three owner car, and one of only 404 GT350 Convertibles ever made! What makes this car even more rare is the fact that it is a factory four speed car with factory optional 3.89 gears. The car is very well documented and includes the original vin stamped owner's manual and build sheet. The car is well sorted, runs and drives great, and is ready to be enjoyed.
